What does it take to renovate your health, your weight and your life?
I practice a somewhat foodie version of a holistic approach to health and wellness. This means that together we explore the individual areas of your life to define how they are interconnected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does your low energy or lack of sleep prevent you from exercising? Are the foods you eat healthy, AND are they satisfying to your senses? Do you know how to cook simple fabulous meals from whole foods as quick as a flash? You love to cook? You’ll love my recipes. Being healthy doesn’t mean we are now destined to become what I call a ” Persona non Gratis” you know what I mean….non gluten, non dairy, non fat, non everything, food for the rest of your days. The more you add in of the things that are good for you, the less you crave the foods and things in your life that don’t serve you. This is how we create long term, life enhancing change.

What works for one person does not always work for another:
Every human being has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison. Fad diets almost always fail in the long run. Together, we will determine what your body needs and what you enjoy. To enhance your enjoyment is the essence of my work as a health and weight loss coach, and as hard as it is to believe, this is “the big secret” of the whole weight battle.. we will talk more about how that will work in your life.
Vitamins, Supplements, Detox Cleanses, Herbs and all that holistic stuff.
Yes, I love working with vitamins, herbs and natural supplements. My approach on this is scientific and based on therapies I’ve studied with Dr. Jeffrey Bland, who is considered the father of functional medicine through nutrigenomics and lifestyle therapies. I take these things seriously and I am always up on the latest science and education around how and why certain things work. I have my own personal practice of what works for me now and for what I discovered for what worked in the past, when NOTHING else I tried did. I do believe in the occasional cleanse practice, but there are many versions of this, and the one I have designed is not extreme, or deprivation oriented. I call it the Get Real Cleanse. The Get Real Cleanse is based on science and it addresses food allergies and inflammation. I offer the cleanse to my clients both individually and as a group program 3 times a year if they desire a jumpstart to getting healthy and figuring out what foods work best for them. As my client, I will educate and guide you in choosing the path of supplements and nutritional power foods that I believe can greatly enhance your health and well being. However, these things are not the core of my program, just some of the valuable resources available if you so choose. Meaning this: My program is not all about you buying a bunch of herbs and supplements, but I have these things available if they interest you and you’d like to try them. Seriously, as Dr. Mark Hyman says: I don’t care if it’s exercise, or exorcism, if it works for you, I’m all for it!
Rethinking the Weight Loss Diet as the main tool for sustainable weight loss:
FACT: While 85% of people lose weight on a “diet” only 15% of people will keep the weight off in 2 years
I believe that people don’t “fail” diets, diets fail people. Most diets do not offer an enjoyable and long term approach that best fits the individual. Weight loss diets don’t encourage us to become aware of what our bodies need. Weight loss diets can give us false hope, because they are simply guidelines that address the physics:
Bigger Body= more calories going in than going out
Getting Smaller Body=less calories going in than going out
Happy Body=same calories going in as going out
If it was as simple as that, we wouldn’t go from diet, to diet to diet.
Yes, yes, I’m aware how powerful certain food combinations are. Yes, I’m totally aware how much better we can feel by eating certain foods….I understand TOTALLY how our metabolisms work and all of that..however:
No matter how flawless your nutrition is, no matter how many super foods you discover and eat…..no matter how much you exercise, no matter what supplements you take, if you eat more food, than your body can metabolize in a day, you will gain weight. And eating when you are not truely physically hungry, and eating more than you physically need, is not honoring your body, mind or spirit, and that will be reflected both on the inside and on the outside.
The great news is, we can fix that part.
Here’s the deal Paisano; when we lose weight without understanding how the extra weight showed up in the first place, the weight inevitably returns. Our bodies are exquisitely intelligent and insist upon teaching us what we need to know; your body knows what it needs. It’s our thinking around the food we eat, and our lack of connection between our minds and bodies that creates the extra weight. I can help you figure out what foods fuel your body best and I can help you figure out how to connect with your body so that you don’t just lose the weight, you change your relationship with food and with your body, so the weight loss is permanent.
